In order to create a new challenge, there are certain pieces of required information. You will not be able to create a challenge if any of the required pieces of information are incomplete, so it is important to have all challenge details organized prior to creating the new challenge or note details that will need to be changed or updated later. The details established during challenge creation will only apply to User Accounts for Users that are associated with the challenge.
The Challenge Name field is used to label the challenge, so it is easily identified throughout other parts of the Admin Account. For example, you will need the Challenge Name when adding a User to your program and when scheduling an email to participants. In order to create a new challenge, there are certain pieces of required information. The Challenge Name is not just for internal use only. It can easily be displayed in email and Bulletin Board communications by using a Personalization Token.
Company is used to identify which organization the challenge being created will be associated with. If you only have one company associated with your Admin Account, this field will automatically populate with your company name. If there are multiple companies associated with your Admin Account, then please use the menu to select the company that the challenge will belong to.
Leaderboard Title is only a required field if you plan to have a Start Date and End Date that does not correspond to the first day and last day in the current month, respectively. The Leaderboard Title highlights the custom challenge date range for participants by having the text from this field be the default option displayed on the Leaderboard page in User Accounts. As the default option selected, the Leaderboard Title will correspond to the Start Date and End Date as noted in the created challenge.
If the challenge being created is going to be a monthly continuous program, leave the Leaderboard Title field blank. This will have the Leaderboard page in associated User Accounts to always default to the current month without you having to update it regularly.
Start Date / End Date
The Start Date and End Date fields (together, “Challenge Date Range”) will reflect the first and last day of the challenge, respectively. The challenge being created will begin at midnight on the Start Date and end just before midnight on the End Date. The Challenge Date Range will also be the default option when creating a new email as well as an option in the reporting feature of the Admin Account. Based on the Challenge Date Range, User Accounts will see a countdown clock displaying the number of days, hours, minutes, and seconds left until the launch of the challenge as well as the amount of time left until the end of a challenge once the End Date is less than three days away.
The Challenge Date Range will also be the time period associated with the Leaderboard Title, which will be the default option on the Leaderboard page in User Accounts, as well the date range for key statistics on the Dashboard page of User Accounts.
Leaderboard Type will determine the default leaderboard display for challenge participants in their User Account. There are two options: (i) Individual and (ii) Team. If selected, the Individual option will have the Leaderboard page default to individual rankings in User Accounts. If selected, the Team option will have the Leaderboard page default to team rankings in User Accounts. If a User in the challenge has been assigned to a team, they will have access to individual and team rankings regardless of the default option. If a User in the challenge has not been assigned to a team, they will only have access to individual rankings.
Wearable Device Store
The Wearable Device Store provides Users with access to discounted wearable devices from Fitbit and Garmin. To provide access to discounted wearable devices, select the Yes option. If you do not want to provide access to discounted wearable devices, select the No option. All devices include free shipping in the United States. You can provide participants with extra discounts through subsidies and/or bulk orders. Contact your Account Manager for additional details.
Use the Communication field to allow Users to create and send messages to members of their team. It does not allow Users to message other Users that are not part of their team. This feature works by creating an email thread between teammates where they share words of encouragement or organize healthy activities like a group walk! By selecting Yes, Users will have access to the Communicate feature in their User Account. By selecting No, this option will be turned off and hidden from Users Accounts. If creating an individual challenge (no teams), the No option should be selected.
During onboarding, you will have an opportunity to post a custom message to welcome Users to your program. The message will appear after the User changes their password, updates their User Profile, and sets a Profile Picture. The Introduction Header will be the title of this message. Keep it short and sweet with a phrase or sentence that lets Users know they are in the right place. Some recommendations include “Welcome to Wellable!” or “Welcome To Company’s Wellness Rewards Program!” To preview how the selected text will look, simply click See how it will look located below the Introduction Header field. The format of this text cannot be changed.
During onboarding, you will have an opportunity to post a custom message to welcome Users to your program. The message will appear after the User changes their password, updates their User Profile, and sets a Profile Picture. The Introduction Body will be the bulk of message being communicated. It often communicates important information that you would want a User to know. Below is a sample of what an Introduction Body may contain.

This section allows you to configure the eligible activities you want to allow Users to track in a challenge. For example, if you want to build a challenge just focused on nutrition, you would only need to activate the apps that are capable of tracking nutrition in a program. To activate an application, check the box next to application that you want to be included in the challenge.
Below is a list of categories (and eligible apps, if applicable) of activities that can be tracked in a challenge. Please note that Wellable strongly recommends turning on all step- and distance-based apps for a step/walking challenge. This is because of the way certain activity trackers record certain movement with GPS and actions Wellable takes to prevent double counting.
Apple Health, Fitbit, Garmin, Google Fit, Health Mate, MapMyFitness, Microsoft Health, Misfit, Moves, S Health, and TomTom.
Apple Health, Fitbit, Garmin, Google Fit, MapMyFitness, Microsoft Health, Moves, RunKeeper, S Health, Strava, and TomTom.
Other Physical Activities (“Check In” Activities)
Apple Health, Fitbit, Garmin, Google Fit, Jawbone Up, MapMyFitness, Microsoft Health, RunKeeper, S Health, Strava, Swarm, and TomTom.
FatSecret, Fitbit, LoseIt!, MyFitnessPal, RunKeeper, and S Health.
Manual Entry allows physical activities that are manually entered into certain apps connected to a User Account to be awarded Wellable Points.
Activity Log creates a pre-established dropdown menu of fitness activities to be available in User Accounts. This will allow a User in the challenge to manually log activities directly from their Dashboard in their User Account. Eligible activities in the dropdown menu include steps, distance, and other “check in” activities like yoga and weight lifting.
Daily Challenge creates a pre-established dropdown menu of healthy behaviors that are available to log in the Dashboard of a User Account.
Special Activity will allow you to create a fully customizable menu to incorporate any activity or event into a challenge. Once this option has been selected, you will be required to input information about the customizable activities you would like to include in the challenge. See Adding Special Activities for details on incorporation Special Activities into your challenge.
Wellable Points Structure
This section allows you to configure the amount of Wellable Points earned for healthy behaviors based on the specific preferences for a program as well as a daily maximum number of Wellable Points for Activity, Nutrition, and Daily Challenge. If creating a new challenge, a default structure will be prepopulated.
Change the number of Wellable Points assigned to each activity or the daily maximum as you see fit so long as each activity has a value and every entry (other than Steps) is a whole number that does not include commas. If the challenge is designed to exclude any of the categories, mark that field with a zero. For example, if you do not plan to incorporate Nutrition tracking in your challenge, Meals and Snacks/Other should be marked zero in addition to having certain nutrition tracking apps deactivated.
