Raffles are a common way to determine wellness program winners, especially for groups looking for budget friendly options. Raffles allow participants of all levels to have a chance at being selected as a winner, which helps encourage participation across all types of users.
The most commonly used raffles for wellness programs are (i) straight raffles, (ii) tiered raffles, (iii) weighted raffles, and (iv) Special Activity raffles. Wellable provides multiple raffle generators that can be used to populate winners for all four of these raffle options.
All challenges created from the Challenge Library will include an Implementation Guide, which will include a recommended reward structure as well as instructions on how to select the winners. To discuss additional, creative ways to determine winners based the amount of Wellable Points earned during a program, please contact your Wellable Customer Success Manager.
Straight Raffle
A straight raffle is a great option for programs that want to encourage participation broadly, as it does not consider program performance as a criteria to win a reward. A downside of this raffle is that it does not reward better performance or encourage participants to challenge themselves during the program.
A straight raffle selects winners from a pool where each active participant has an equal chance of winning. So as long as an individual earns Wellable Points during a program (are active), they are entered into a straight raffle, giving everyone an equal chance at winning a reward.

Tiered Raffle
A tiered raffle is similar to a straight raffle, but it requires a participant to meet or exceed a Wellable Point threshold (tier) in order to be entered into the raffle pool. By doing this, it allows a program to require participants to meet a performance standard before being eligible to win a prize. When implementing a tiered raffle, it is important to make the threshold attainable by most, if not all, participants. If the tier is too high (or even appears to be too difficult), many eligible individuals may choose not to participate, and without participation, a program cannot be effective. If you want to provide extra incentives for earning additional Wellable Points beyond an initial tier, you can implement a multi-tiered raffle, which will encourage greater participation as well as reward higher performance.
A tiered raffle operates similar to a straight raffle in that each participant that earns enough Wellable Points to hit a tier will be entered into the raffle pool. Each individual in the tier has the same chance of winning a reward.

Weighted Raffle
Selecting winners through a weighted raffle, also known as Wellable Points-based raffle, is a great option for encouraging broad participation because it provides an opportunity for all participants to win a reward while incentivizing them to earn as many Wellable Points as possible.
A weighted raffle generates winners based on the total amount of Wellable Points participants earn during a program. Each Wellable Point earned equals one entry into the raffle. Any individual earning Wellable Points has a chance of being selected as a raffle winner, but individuals are incentivized to earn more Wellable Points to increase their odds of winning.
To select reward winners using a straight raffle, simply run a standard report and follow the instructions page on the Raffle Generator, choosing winners from the Weighted Raffle Winners table.
Winners can be selected through a raffle based on those who have completed Special Activities offered in a particular program. Since Special Activities usually go beyond just physical activity and can be accomplished equally well by any individual, this type of raffle can provide more opportunities to reward participants that are not the most physically active as well as those individuals focused on holistic well-being.
A Special Activity raffle selects winners from a pool where each participant has completed a Special Activity or set of Special Activities. So long as an individual completes the Special Activity during a program, they are entered into a straight raffle or weighted raffle, giving them a chance to win a reward.
