Leverage Challenge Library
Creating challenges and delivering communications can be tough. To make this as easy as possible, choose to launch a program from the Challenge Library, which is full of holistic, turnkey wellness challenges. These challenges have been designed by Wellable’s wellness specialists to include a variety of themes, promotional communications, and motivating reward structures. Utilizing the Challenge Library is an easy and effective way to launch a wellness challenge. To set up a challenge from the Challenge Library, go to Programs > Wellness Challenges > Add Challenge.
Hybrid Challenge Structure
Why just settle for a team or individual challenge when you can have both? A hybrid challenge typically includes a focus on teams with prizes and incentives for teams as well as individuals. By awarding prizes to both teams and individuals, a hybrid challenge is designed to increase engagement by allowing Users to participate without having to join a team and continuing to motivate individuals who may be on underperforming teams.
To set up a hybrid challenge structure, set Leaderboard Type to Team, which will have the Leaderboard page default to team rankings in User Accounts associated with the challenge. This makes the team element the focus of the challenge, but Users will still have access to the individual rankings. When communicating rewards, note prizes available for teams and individuals. In email communications, insert a team leaderboard, but also use Personalization Tokens to highlight individual rankings.
Create Motivating Reward Structures
Most successful wellness programs offer participants rewards or prizes to incentivize engagement in the program. Since goals, objectives, and budgets differ significantly with each organization, Wellable supports a wide range of reward and prize options. The most effective rewards are ones that are most meaningful to participants, which will vary with each group of Users. When creating a rewards structure, make sure the way to win prizes motivates all participants, not just the top performers. A great way to do this is through team-based rewards and/or raffles for participation. Also, try to offer rewards that the Users would be most interested in or allow them to choose the reward they would like.
Consider Introducing A Continuous Incentive Wellness Program
As a wellness program matures, it may make sense to move from one-time health promotion events like themed challenges (a.k.a., traditional wellness challenges) to a continuous incentive wellness program, or continuous program. Unlike traditional wellness challenges, continuous programs do not have a defined start and end date – they are “active” all the time. This type of challenge rewards healthy behavior every day and promotes the development of healthy and repeatable habits. In continuous programs, participants earn Wellable Points over a period of time (yearly, quarterly, or monthly) that convert into rewards. Prizes can be tiered (the more Wellable Points, the greater the reward) and can include payroll contributions, vacation days, premium differentials, and more. Connect with your Customer Success Manager to discuss whether a continuous program is right for your organization and the best way to design one for maximum impact.
